Holiday Beach Theme Cake

This was for a ladys 50th birthday who loved holidays! I thought a beach theme would be the best and maybe Id be able to write a message in the sand. I tried the writing in the sand but it didnt really work so I made little pebbles out of sugarpaste for the message.
The top of the cake has caster sugar on it to make it look like sand, and two palm trees on the side of the cake. I also made a hat, bottle of oil and sandals as accessories.

Bike Cake

This cake was a bit of a challenge for me as I had no clue if I could actually make a bike from sugarpaste! I had a photo of the bike in question and made a wire frame from florist wire. I moulded it around the frame to create the look I wanted. I then used edible powders to write the brand on the bike itself.
I was pleased with the result but being a perfectionist I think I could have done better. The picture I had in my mind wasnt what the finished result turned out like although I was pleased.

Fishing Theme Cake

I was asked to make a 60th birthday cake for a work colleague that liked fishing. I did some research and thought id make a little boat with a man fishing in it. I did think about making an actual boat out of cake but need a bit more experience first!

I made the fishing rod myself out of wire and flower paste therefore its not edible. Everything else you can eat!

I moulded the items from sugarpaste a week before to let them harden. The boat was suprisingly easy to make and I was pleased with how the little figure turned out. I tried to add detail to his jacket to make it look realistic. Edible paints were a new thing for me on this project! I cant wait to start using them more to get the effects i want!!!

Rose Anniversary Cake

I made a quick cake for my parents 30th anniversary. I was in a hurry and it needed to be something simple. I know my mother likes roses and didnt think my dad would really care what it looked like as long as it tasted nice!
The roses are simple sugarpaste roses and are fully edible (unlike sugarcraft flowers). I used a pearl luster on the outside of the cake and in the writing as its a pearl anniversary.
